Superintendent Shows Support for Adult Language Learning Program

LAS VEGAS - A vital program that helps hundreds of valley families received a major show of public support from Clark County School District Superintendent Dwight Jones.

The Adult English Language Service started offering classes and parenting services eleven years ago. Tuesday, the organization held an open house fiesta to remind the community of the value of the program. Jones attended the fiesta to show his support for the program.

"I think in today's age, it's important that parents get involved with the education of their children," said Priscilla Rocha with English Language Acquisition Services. "Too many times, parents are too busy working - not knowing what really goes on in the classroom. Parents need to really get involved in helping teachers closing the gap."

The adult English classes are part of the Parent Institute and are offered by the school district. The Parent Institute also teaches different styles of parenting and how to open lines of communication.
