SWAT investigates barricade in NE neighborhood

LAS VEGAS - Metro Police are investigating a barricade situation in a northeast valley neighborhood.

Police say SWAT officials responded to the intersection of Pecos and Owens to investigate Monday night around 7:30 p.m.  There weren't any injuries reported.

Two female residents arrived at their house with their sister and boyfriend to find a rear glass slider window broken. The women entered their home, which is located in the 3300 block of Durham Avenue, and discovered one of the female resident's 25-year-old estranged husband inside the kitchen with a shotgun and samurai type sword, police said.

The homeowners called police and left the residence.

After two hours in trying to persuade the suspect into surrendering, SWAT was called and residents of nine homes were evacuated or given the opportunity to evacuate to a nearby elementary school.
