Teen Dies Following Attempted Theft of iPad

LAS VEGAS - The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified the teen killed after an attempted iPad robbery Thursday as 15-year-old Marcos Arenas of Las Vegas. His cause of death is still pending.

Arenas, a Bonanza High School student who was assaulted Thursday during an attempted theft, has died, Metro Police said.

Investigators said he was walking near Charleston Boulevard and Torrey Pines Drive with an iPad in hand when a white SUV pulled up next to him.

The male passenger jumped out of the SUV and attempted to grab the iPad from Arenas, who held onto the iPad while struggling with the man.

The suspect got back into the SUV and Arenas was either still holding the iPad or being held by the suspect as the suspect got into the SUV. As the suspects fled in the vehicle at a high rate of speed, the teen fell and was struck by the SUV.

The first suspect - the passenger in the vehicle - is described as a white male adult in his late 20's, about 6-feet tall, 180 to 200 pounds. He was wearing a white tank top and blue jeans. He has short, blonde, slicked back hair and a trimmed beard.

The second suspect - the driver of the vehicle - is described as a black male adult in his mid-20's with a medium build, fade haircut, black shirt, blue jeans, tattoo sleeves on both arms, and a long chain necklace with a pendant.

The suspect vehicle is described as a white 2008 to 2010 Ford Explorer or Expedition with no license plates, factory running boards and tinted windows.

Police are also looking for a person of interest described a black male wearing a black shirt (pictured).

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers or call police at 828-3521.
