Trial for ex-MMA fighter 'War Machine' begins Monday

LAS VEGAS - The Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter known as War Machine will go to trial on Monday on charges that he tried to kill his ex-girlfriend and her friend.

War Machine, who's formal name is Jonathan Paul Koppenhaver, faces 34 felony counts, including sexual assault, attempted murder and battery in the Aug. 2014 attack on porn star Christy Mack and her friend, Corey Thomas.

Mack suffered fractured bones in her face, broken ribs, two broken teeth, a lacerated liver and bruises. Thomas was allegedly punched and choked.

Jury selection will begin on the morning of Feb. 27.
