Tuberculosis testing underway at Liberty High School

LAS VEGAS -- The Clark County School District confirms testing for tuberculosis is underway at Liberty High School.

School District officials confirmed last month one active case of tuberculosis at the school.

CCSD Spokesperson Melinda Malone said in a statement last month:

"The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) has informed CCSD that an individual at Liberty High School was diagnosed with an active case of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB). The district has been in continuous communication with SNHD and is cooperating with the health district as it oversees the response to this incident. A letter addressed to parents was sent home with students today and a ParentLink message will also be sent out to keep our community informed of this situation. Additional letters will be sent home with students as those who are in need of testing are identified."

A tuberculosis test is required by law and mandatory to NAC 441A.365 for all individuals identified as contacts. The Health District will test students and staff from the bus routes, classrooms, and work schedules.

There will be no charge to the students or staff being tested.
