Wind storm causes damage, power outages around the valley

LAS VEGAS - Strong winds around the Las Vegas valley caused problems in some neighborhoods Monday night.

Nearly 2,700 NV Energy customers were without power Monday afternoon due to the windstorm, according to NV Energy's website.

A power outage on E. Sahara Avenue and S. Lamb Boulevard was impacting around 1,200 customers. The outage started at 1 p.m.

Another large outage, which is due to equipment failure, on E. Bonanza and N. Civic Center Drive impacted 1,400 customers. Power was restored around 4 p.m. 

There were also several other small outages.
