Two suspects arrested for shooting at CHP officers

A man and women believed to have opened fire on California Highway Patrol officers on Friday are now in custody.

Officers received a call about trespassers east of I-15 near Cima Road at about 11:15 p.m. on January 6th.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department dispatched its SWAT team to the location in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 7th, said CHP.

According to investigators, law enforcement discovered the two suspects in an abandoned vehicle along with six firearms.

The suspects surrendered without incident and were taken into custody, said CHP.

The suspects and guns are believed to be involved in the shooting against two California Highway Patrolmen which resulted in the Friday morning closure of I-15 north of Baker, according to CHP.

The two CHP officers did not suffer any injuries in the shooting. I-15 was reopened to traffic later in the afternoon.
