Two-Car Crash Injures 3 Children in Bus Shelter

LAS VEGAS - Metro Police have identified the drivers involved in the serious crash that has left three children in critical condition Friday morning.

According to police, a Ford F-350 pickup driven by 40-year-old Jorge Silva was traveling northbound on Lamb Boulevard, just south of Bonanza Road at about 5:30 a.m.

The second truck, a Dodge Dakota pickup driven by 55-year-old Darryl McGregor, was traveling westbound on Bonanza Road, just east of Lamb Boulevard at the same time.

The two trucks entered the intersection at the same time and the Dodge hit the Ford. The Ford pickup continued northbound where it hit a curb, drove up onto the sidewalk and hit a bus shelter where the three children and their dad were waiting.

The three children, ages 2, 4 and 5, were all critically hurt. Their father suffered non life threatening injuries.

"It was the worst thing I've ever seen," Evaritso Herrera, who say the crash's aftermath said. "We went to the window and said, "oh my God. Something really bad happened.'"

Police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. Both drivers told police they believed they had the green light at the intersection.

"It is kind of sketchy as to what happened. Both drivers are saying they had a green light as they proceeded through the intersection. We're kind of looking at video and trying to get some witnesses here." Metro Police Sgt. Richard Strader said.

The crash is under investigation. The intersection was closed for several hours while police investigated. The roads have been reopened.
