Variety show to benefit Toys 4 Tots

LAS VEGAS - Maybe you've already started holiday shopping for gifts, but many other families will have a tough time putting toys under the tree without some help. Las Vegas entertainers step up on stage every year to perform some Christmas morning magic for those families.

The holidays are filled with music, good cheer, and toys. For the several less fortunate families, the holidays are not so bright.

"There's nothing more precious than through the eyes of a parent on Christmas morning, watching that child open up their first gift," said L.J. Harness from Findlay Cadillac.

Talented Las Vegas performed gather together once a year to make sure the Grinch of hardship doesn't steal Christmas for local families in need.

"It's such a great thing to be able to raise some money and collect some toys for kids who obviously may not have anything during the holiday season," said Chris Phillips, or better known as Zowie Bowie. "Just as of five months ago I had my first child, and I just couldn't fathom what that would be like if she wasn't able to enjoy the holidays like other kids."

The performers bring magic when they present their hearts and talents together on one stage for one night.

"It's about experiencing what Christmas is," said Jennifer Romas from "Sexxy" at the Westgate Hotel. "It's about the giving, it's about the loving, about the giving back. And I think that's what's important."

They entertain to raise money and hope for hundreds of children in the Valley. Singers, actors, rock stars, magicians, and comedians came together for one selfless cause.

"It's the entertainment capital of the world and all these entertainers come out and donate their time to make that magical Christmas for a lot of families who otherwise Sherry wouldn't have that Christmas morning," Harness said.

"It's the simplest thing in the world, but that's what it's all about," said actor Adrien Zmed. "It's love. Whatever the present is, whatever people can buy and drop off."

Thousands of dollars and toys will be collected thanks to the generous Las Vegas community, benefit sponsor Findlay Cadillac and the hard work of L.J. Harness, Promotions Manager of Findlay Cadillac. They saw a need for local kids.

"In seeing the response from this city and what we have been through just recently, it shows you to the world - that Vegas rocks with a big heart," Harness said.

"Please reach in your pockets and come see the show and bring toys and money and anything you can...ex-wives, dogs, cats, please come down," said Paul Shortino from Raiding the Rock Vault. "God Bless you all. Merry Christmas."

The Toys for Tots benefit variety show is Saturday, December 16. It starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Westgate Hotel and Casino. Between now and December 15, you can drop off a new, unwrapped toy valued at $20 or more at Findlay Cadillac on Auto Show drive in Henderson. You can get two free tickets to the show.
