Vegas Golden Knights teach kids hockey fundamentals

LAS VEGAS - The Vegas Golden Knights hope to spur interest in hockey by getting local kids involved in the sport.  

The valley's new NHL team is hosting a series of workshops called "Sticks for Kids." The idea is to teach youngsters the basics of the sport. 

Dozens of kids attended the first of three clinics on Saturday at Paradise Park. Golden Knights staff members taught the basics. The aspiring hockey players even got to take home a free street hockey stick. 

Below are the times and locations of the remaining events:

  • Sunday, May 21
  • Desert Breeze Park (8275 Spring Mountain Road, Las Vegas, NV 89147)
  • Four sessions: 8:00 a.m. PT, 10:00 a.m. PT, 12 noon and 2:00 p.m. PT
  • Saturday, June 3
  • Anthem Hills Park (2256 Reunion Drive, Henderson NV 89052)
  • Four sessions: 8:00 a.m. PT, 10:00 a.m. PT, 12 noon and 2:00 p.m. PT

If you're interested in attending, you can click here to register in advance. The clinics are open to kids ages 5-15.
