Vegas Man Linked to Pimping Pleads Guilty to Tax Evasion

LAS VEGAS -- A Las Vegas man who pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to one count of tax evasion for income taxes owed in 2010 lived off the earnings of a prostitute, according to Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation.

Johnny Ray Taylor, 34, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro. According to charges filed on May 6, Taylor received more than $230,000 in gross income in 2010 and owed roughly $63,966 in federal taxes but willfully attempted to evade those taxes.

According to the plea agreement, Taylor agreed to pay $117,559 in restitution to the Internal Revenue Service for income earned for the years 2008, 2009 and 2010. Taylor's acts of evasion included having third parties pay automobile lease payments, having third parties make rental deposits and payments on homes, and conducting financial transactions in cash.

Taylor admitted that the government could prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he earned more than $10,000 in 2010 from pandering and from living off the earnings of a prostitute.

This case is being prosecuted by the United States Attorney's Office in Las Vegas with assistance from IRS-Criminal Investigation and the Metro Police Vice Unit.
