Walmart closing 269 stores, 1 in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS - Walmart announced it will start closing 269 stores this month, most of them are in the United States. Another large group of stores will be closed in Brazil.

The Walmart store located at 4350 N. Nellis Boulevard is set to close on Sunday, Jan. 17. It is the only Nevada store on the list of closures.

"For a lot of us in this neighborhood, this is all we have to rely on," said Robert Goodell, a Walmart shopper. "Without this we have to rely on the bus sytstem or whatever to get to the grocery stores."

The company has more than 11,000 stores worldwide.

Walmart CEO and President Doug McMillion said closing stores is never easy but necessary to keep the company strong and positioned for the future.
