#WeatherNOW: Quick, heavy rains, thunder and hail moves through Las Vegas valley

LAS VEGAS - Quick moving thunderstorms hit the Las Vegas valley Monday afternoon.

The northwest was impacted first as rain, lightning, and hail pounded the area.  The dark clouds quickly moved along to central Las Vegas dropping rain on residents and tourist near the Strip.

McCarran International Airport had a ground stop due to the weather.  Travelers experienced Gate Holds and Taxi delays between 31 and 45 minutes in length, while the general arrival of planes to the airport were delayed 15 minutes or less.

According to NV Energy's website, there were 134 outages reported, and that affected a total of 11,740 customers.  However, as of 2:30 p.m. there are only 3,100 customers still dealing with power outages. 

Around 2 p.m., 8 News NOW Meteorologist Tedd Florendo reported that the storms were moving toward the Henderson/Green Valley area.
