West Nile Mosquitoes Found in Henderson

LAS VEGAS -- Mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus have been found in Henderson, the Southern Nevada Health District reported Tuesday.

No people have contracted the virus, but the mosquitoes are the first discovered carrying West Nile this year in southern Nevada. They were found in the 89014 ZIP code.

Last year, the health district received reports of eight people infected with West Nile virus, one of whom died. In 2011, Nevada reported 16 cases, 11 of which were in Clark County. There were no human cases of West Nile virus were reported in Clark County in 2010.
