Wife Arrested in Alleged Murder Plot Against Husband

LAS VEGAS -- The estranged wife of a man targeted in an alleged murder plot is facing charges of attempted murder, battery and conspiracy to commit murder.

Robert Bessey was shot while driving on I-15. Metro Police arrested 42-year-old Amy Pearson also known as Amy Bessey on Friday.

Robert Bessey told police that he had been having an on-going dispute with his ex-wife Amy Pearson over divorce proceedings. There was a $250,000 life insurance policy on Robert Bessey and it was about to expire. According to the arrest report, Amy Pearson had made statements to Robert Bessey that he was worth more dead than alive.

Bessey was shot on Nov. 14, 2012 as he drove on I-15. He told police he heard his window shatter and then discovered he had been shot in the back of the head. He was able to call 911 for help.

Shortly after the shooting, police arrested Bessey's adopted son, 21-year-old Michael Bessey who is facing an attempted murder charge and 39-year-old Richard Pearson, Michael Bessey's uncle.

Amy Pearson is scheduled to appear in Las Vegas Justice Court on Wednesday.
