Woman Dies After Running Red Light

LAS VEGAS -- An 81-year-old Las Vegas woman has died after the car she was driving ran a red light and was hit by a pickup truck Monday afternoon.

According to Nevada Highway Patrol, Lupe M. Rangel was driving east on Cheyenne Avenue toward the U.S. 95 intersection when she ran the red light and entered the intersection.

The driver of the pickup truck, who was stopped on the U.S. 95 northbound off ramp, got the green light and entered the intersection. The front right side of Rangel's car hit the pickup truck's front left side.

When NHP troopers arrived, Rangel was in her car unresponsive and unconscious. She was taken to MountainView Hospital where she died of her injuries early Tuesday morning.
