Nia graduated with a B.A. in Literary Journalism and spent a few years living abroad in Asia brushing up her Korean language skills before landing her first broadcast job in Oregon as a one-man band in Roseburg.
It was there where she covered major wildfires and landed an exclusive interview with a VA Hospital physician on the problems plaguing the healthcare system for local veterans.
Her last stop was in Santa Maria, CA working for CBS affiliate KCOY-TV.
