More Project Neon closures this weekend

LAS VEGAS - A couple more Project Neon closures this weekend, but not like the total freeway shutdown this past weekend.

The first of the two closures has the better chance of adding to your weekend drive time. It involves the short stretch of Charleston around I-15. If you're heading toward the freeway on Charleston from the downtown Las Vegas area, you can go up Grand Central Pkwy to Bonneville/Alta, west to Rancho, then south on Rancho to Charleston to continue your westbound trip. Or you can go down Western to Oakey, then west to Rancho, up Rancho to Charleston and then resume westward. If you're heading toward the I-15 from anywhere west of Rancho, you'll do just the opposite: down Rancho to Oakey, east to Western, up to Rancho and then east. Or you can go north on Rancho to Alta/Bonneville, down Grand Central Pkwy to get back on to Charleston. This closure is scheduled to start at 10 Friday night and run until 5 Monday morning.

The other weekend closure is likely to affect fewer people. Symphony Park will be shut down for Project Neon work starting at 10 Friday night and scheduled to run until 5 Tuesday morning. Symphony Park runs from MLK on the west to Grand Central Parkway on the east. The detour involves going up or down those streets to either Bonanza on the north or Alta/Bonneville on the south.

We'll be monitoring Project Neon and NDOT's social media pages for any possible changes, and you're encouraged to do the same. You can also download the free Project Neon app for updated info. The good news: there will not be a quiz on this, however, there are several more months of work to go, so hang in there.
