Acts of Kindness

Times are tough in Southern Nevada. Many are in need and are dealing with the worry and stress of wondering how they are going to make ends meet. The good news is that generosity is alive and well in Las Vegas. People are showing acts of kindness every day towards family, friends, neighbors and even strangers. All too often, these amazing people go unrecognized for their selflessness. We'd like to meet these people and reward them for helping others.

Acts of Kindness: Ryan Koppy

Acts of Kindness

A young man making a big impact in the lives of children fighting terminal diseases. Ryan Koppy, a sophomore at Faith Lutheran is fundraising for Make A Wish Southern Nevada.

It began about four months ago when he participated in the “Walk for Wishes.” Ryan says, “It was amazing to see what Make A Wish could do, and I knew I wanted to get involved as well.”

The average wish costs about five thousand dollars – whether it’s a family Disney cruise, a trip to Australia, or a special meeting with a child’s favorite soccer star. Ryan wants to help at least two dreams come true, and he is well on his way.

He and his Dad contacted a local printing company called Think it Ink it. Owner Nader Sherif says, “He sends me a list of shirts every week that he sold, and I print them on demand for him. He has no stock, no concern about any overhead, just prints what he needs. For him to take an interest in something and raise money for these kids is just amazing, we need more kids like him.”

Ryan gets the “Make a Wish” kids directly involved, as they are the designers of his t-shirts. There are three designs you can choose from on Ryan’s website at www.makeawishtees.org

He’s got big plans for the future, and he’s raised nine-thousand dollars to date. We’ll be sure to follow his progress. He adds,” It’s been an amazing experience, I’m so thankful for everyone who has helped out, and how successful it has been.”
