UPDATE: Semi-truck driver admits to falling asleep in fatal crash on US 93

LAS VEGAS - The driver of a semi-truck told Nevada Highway Patrol he fell asleep at the wheel prior to causing a crash that involved four vehicles and killed two people on US 93 Wednesday morning.

The crash happened around 6 a.m. about 50 miles north of Las Vegas near Coyote Springs at mile marker 63.

According to NHP, four vehicles were stopped due to a lane restriction for construction when the semi-truck, fully loaded with sand, struck three vehicles and another semi-truck. Two men from Idaho were ejected from their vehicle and killed. Two other drivers were transported to UMC in Las Vegas with minor injuries.

The road was closed for several hours as troopers investigated.
