LAS VEGAS - Three weeks ago, 19-year-old Deionte Taylor was robbed and shot to death. His mother, Rochelle Taylor, is pleading for answers. "They always say God never gives you more than you can handle but sometimes I wonder." Rochelle said goodbye to her son on January 18. He died a day after he was shot in the head at a Walgreens near N Las Vegas Blvd. and Pecos Rd. "As a mom, it's your worst nightmare ever," she said.
The story behind Deionte's murder is puzzling. Police say he was robbed but no other information has been revealed. Deionte was taken to UMC on January 17th. Rochelle says she doesn't know who he was with, why he was there or what he was doing. No one has said anything.
"You go from shock to anger to hurt to... you just want to scream. I just wanted to scream," she said. "He's 19. Take the money, take his cell phone, but leave him alive."
Deionte moved to Las Vegas on December 19. He died almost a month later on January 18. "He had dreams to go in the military, he met this girl that he had said he wanted to marry and he had just graduated."
Rochelle says she won't go home until she uncovers the truth. "We don't want them to forget his name or his face. He was a person."
Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
