Downtown fire closes roads, knocks out power

LAS VEGAS - 1200 people are without power due to a fire that broke out Saturday afternoon. 

Around 1:00 p.m. several trees caught fire and spread to a shed, backyard with debris and junk on S. 17th Street off E. Charleston Boulevard, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue. The fire also extended to a house.

No one was injured in the fire, according to officials. 

This incident forced officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to close Charleston Boulevard from 15th Street to Bruce Street as firefighters knocked down the fire. 

As of 2:45 p.m. Saturday eastbound Charleston Boulevard is open. However, westbound Charleston is closed, in addition to S 17th Street, northbound. 

Power is set to come back around 5 p.m. Saturday Evening, according to NV Energy.
