Firefighters battled a blaze Friday at Desert Recycling near Nellis Boulevard and Carey Avenue.

The fire began at 9:35 a.m. When crews arrived, they found a large pile of debris burning at the business, according to Deputy Fire Chief Jon Klassen, Clark County Fire Department.

The fire was confined to the yard of the property and no buildings are threatened, Klassen said.

CCFD firefighters worked to contain the blaze as well as Las Vegas Fire and Rescue and North Las Vegas Fire Department.

There were no immediate safety concerns. The primary health concern was to keep emergency responders hydrated during the incident, Klassen said.

Police shut down Marcos Street and advised people to avoid the area of Lake Mead Boulevard and Nellis Boulevard.
