‘It’s been devastating’: Victim’s girlfriend speaks about arrest in Doctor’s death

25-year-old Kelsey Turner has been arrested in connection to the death of 71-year-old Thomas Burchard from California.

Burchard’ body was found three weeks ago in the trunk of an abandoned car near Lake Mead.

Burchard was a well-known psychiatrist in California.

“It’s been devastating. The worst nightmare ever,” said Judy Earp, Burchard’s girlfriend of 17 years. “I hope nobody ever has to go through this. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.”

Clark County Coroner Officials say Burchard died from blunt force injuries to his head.

According to Turner’s Facebook page, she’s an aspiring model and actress.

When 8 News NOW asked Earp if she knew of Turner, she said that she did not know her.

“I’ve never met her, spoke with her or anything,” said Earp.

Burchard came to Las Vegas on March 1 and was supposed to return to California on March 4. Earp filed a missing persons report when he didn’t come home. But, Earp suspects there’s more to the story.

“A car abandoned in the desert. Someone had to give the driver a ride out of there. I don’t think that one person could get a body into a trunk,” Earp added.

Turner faces one count of open murder. She is currently awaiting extradition to Clark County.
