LAS VEGAS - Two male juveniles are under arrest and facing murder charges for the death of another juvenile after fleeing a traffic stop and then crashing a stolen car, police said.
Officers began following the stolen vehicle because the person behind the wheel was driving recklessly manner in the area E. Sunset Road and Green Valley Parkway on Friday around 7:20 p.m., according to a report by the Henderson Police Department.
While attempting to flee, the driver ran a red light and crashed the stolen vehicle. Several juvenile occupants ran from the scene, the report continued.
With the help from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Air Support and K-9 units, HPD was able to catch everyone who ran from the car.
As a result of the stolen vehicle investigation, detectives say they learned about a possible homicide which occurred at an abandoned residence in the area of Sunridge Heights Parkway and Eastern Avenue.
At around 11:15 p.m. Friday, detectives found the body of the male juvenile victim at the residence and concluded that circumstances surrounding his death were suspicious.
Authorities charged one juvenile suspect with murder with a deadly weapon and another with accessory to murder after the fact and destroying evidence.
The juveniles were booked into Clark County Juvenile Hall. Due to their age, HPD is not releasing their identities and will not release any other details.
This is the fourth homicide investigation in Henderson for 2018.
