22 year old, two teens arrested in connection to Henderson drug deal turned deadly

HENDERSON (KLAS) — Henderson police have identified one of the suspects arrested in connection to an afternoon fatal shooting near Boulder Highway and Major Avenue on May 31. 

22-year-old Joseph DeFrancisco was booked into the Henderson Detention Center. The two other suspects, 16-year-old and 17-year-old males, were also apprehended for committing Murder in the 1st Degree during a Robbery.

Officers believe the shooting was drug-related. 

The May 30 media briefing stated at approximately 11:20 a.m., City of Henderson Police and Fire personnel responded to the 300 block of Bright Sumac Court in reference to multiple reports of gunshots.

Officers responded to the area and located a 20-year-old male with gunshot wounds dead at the scene. Two additional juveniles with gunshot wounds were located and transported to local hospitals. 

The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

This is being investigated as the sixth homicide in Henderson for 2019.
