LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — CCSD police say a female bus driver was injured and a male student was taken into custody after an early morning fight at Canyon Springs High School.
Preliminary details show two male students got into a physical fight around 7 a.m. and a large crowd gathered around them. School police then used pepper spray to break up the fight and gain control of the crowd.
As previously mentioned, one of the male students was arrested but the other is outstanding. Police are reviewing surveillance video and trying to find the other student.
The student in custody is charged with battery on a protected person, disorderly conduct, and participating in a fight. Police say the boy made contact with a police officer, resulting in the first charge.
As for the female CCSD bus driver hurt during the fight, the extent of her injuries and how they happened is currently unknown. Another boy, not involved in the fight, was cited for trying to interfere with police taking the suspect into custody.
Canyon Springs High School dismissal remains scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
