A new ice rink is headed to Henderson!  According to the City of Henderson’s website, the city council is expected to take up the issue at its meeting on Feb. 19.

The information was listed under meetings and agenda.

The notice said that members will discuss the “Exclusive Negotiation Agreement between the City of Henderson and Black Knight Sports Arena II, LLC, for a portion of improved property located at the southwest corner of Water Street and Atlantic Avenue commonly referred to as the
Henderson Convention Center, and identified as a portion of Assessor’s Parcel Number 179-18-810-001.”

The ice skating rink is something the area’s been wanting for quite some time. People who live in Henderson say they’ve been waiting years to get an ice rink.

“I’m a Henderson native; a lot of our skaters are based out of Henderson, so it would be great if we had a rink over there,” said John Antoniadis, Vegas Valley Hockey. “You’re looking at 5 to 10 minutes versus a half an hour.”
