James Holzhauer, also known to fans as ‘Jeopardy James,’ surpassed the $2 million mark on Thursday in his 27th consecutive win. The final “Jeopardy!” question was about a dark sky spot in Idaho.
Alex Trebek, Jeopardy! Host: “So let’s go to James now. He had 39,400, and his response was — Sun Valley. You wrote down Las Vegas Strip then crossed it off; why?”
Holzhauer: “Just didn’t think it was in Idaho,” Holzhauer said as he revealed his answer and to the question, along with his answer.
Trebek: “Oh. Ha, ha. Ok. And you risked $35,000, that takes you up to $74,400 and $2,065,535!”
When Holzhauer revealed his answer he wrote “The Las Vegas Strip” as a joke, but then he scratched it out and had the right answer, which was Sun Valley, at the bottom of it.
According to Wikipedia, Holzhauer is fifth on the list of all-time game show winners. This is for a total amount obtained from any total and combination of shows.
James will be back on “Jeopardy!” to go for his 28th win on Monday as he continues to chase down former “Jeopardy!” champ Ken Jennings’ total.
