LAS VEGAS - Ten years ago today, a rare snowstorm struck Las Vegas with parts of the valley being blanketed in several inches of snow.
It was the most snow the valley had seen since the late 1970s.
Although 3.6 inches were recorded at McCarran International Airport, much more than that was unofficially recorded in other parts of the valley.
Schools were closed and for a period of time, planes were grounded at the airport and some highways were shut down.
It was considered one of the valley's eight worst snowstorms.
