Metro identifies 3 officers involved in Friday’s Summerlin shooting

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The officers involved in the May 31 officer-involved shooting, which occurred in the 1200 block of North Town Center Drive near Summerlin Parkway, have been identified as Detective Zachary Ivins, Detective Michael O’Halloran, and Detective Marlon Magsaysay.

The shooting happened just before 1:00 a.m. and according to Metro Police, detectives were following up on a series of armed robberies in the valley.  The officers later noticed the suspects at a gas station, approached the vehicle, and a man fired shots at officers.

The officers listed above fired back, hitting the suspect multiple times.

Detective Ivins (42) has been employed with the LVMPD since February 2004, Detective O’Halloran (39) has been employed since November 2006, and Detective Magsaysay (26) has been employed since February 2014.

The detectives are all assigned to the Investigative Services Division, Major Violator/Narcotics Bureau and they have all have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this incident.
