Investigators with the Nye County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an attempted kidnapping of a 12-year-old boy.

The child told police that on Jan. 29, while he was walking in the area of the Pahrump Library around 6:30 p.m., a man tried to lure him into a white van.  The boy told police he started to run away when the man started yelling at him and got out of the van to chase after him.

The 12-year-old made it home safely, and his mother called 9-1-1.

The suspect is described as a white man with a bald head, and a multi-colored dyed beard that was down to his chest. He was wearing a ripped T-shirt and khaki shorts.

The child told police the suspect also had a limp.

His vehicle is described as a white older model full-size van with tinted windows.  Both the rear windows were broken, Nye County Sheriff said.

There have been similar reports of attempted kidnappings reported in Lyon County, but detectives don’t believe the two cases are connected.
