LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — 33-year-old Brendan Burbrink was named as the officer involved in the May 14 shooting that took place in the 3100 block of Bel Air Drive, near Desert Inn and Maryland Parkway.

Metro Capt. Nichole Splinter said officers were dispatched shortly after 7 p.m. to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 3100 block of Bel Air Drive, near Desert Inn and Maryland Parkway. Officers found a woman who they believed was hurt during a fight. Shortly after, a man came out of the house with a gun, shouted obscenities at officers, and put the gun to his own head, according to Capt. Splinter.

Officer Burbink fired multiple shots, killing the man.

Burbank has been employed with the LVMPD since April 2015 and he is currently assigned to the South Central Area Command, Community Policing Division. He has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this incident.

Assistant Sheriff Tim Kelly will hold a press conference at #;30 p.m. to further discuss the officer-involved shooting.
