Metro Police released the photo of the man suspected of DUI in the deadly crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian on the Boulder Highway Monday night.
Stephen Howard, 54, is facing charges of DUI, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, and failing to yield to a pedestrian.
A 78-year-old woman was killed as she tried to cross the Boulder Highway near Indios in a marked crosswalk. The crash happened around 8:47 p.m.
According to police, Howard was making a right turn from Indios onto the Boulder Highway and didn’t yield for the pedestrian. He also left the scene of the crash.
Witnesses followed his car to a nearby gas station before he returned to the scene, police said.
This was the 128th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2018.
