Security guard killed on the job; NLV police need public’s help locating the suspect

North Las Vegas Police needs the public’s help in getting the word out, along with locating a homicide suspect who’s still on the run.  According to officers, a man working as a security guard was shot and killed Wednesday morning in the 2400 block of Evening Snow Court near W. Carey Avenue and Revere Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found an unresponsive 23-year-old man in a vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The Clark County Coroner has identified the victim as Naajee Johnson of Las Vegas. According to North Las Vegas, homicide detectives’ preliminary investigation revealed the victim was working as private security at the time and witnesses in the area reported hearing gunshots at about 4:00 a.m. but did not report them to the police department.

Johnson’s brother said the 23-year-old had aspirations of working behimd the scenes in film. He had just accepted an apprenticeship in construction.

Johnson’s grandmother spoke from the heart Friday as she urged anyone with information to come forward.

“I beg anyone that knows who did this to him to come forward, to come forward; come forward,” said Estella Murray, the victim’s grandmother.

Detectives are still working on a motive for the homicide and are attempting to identify a suspect at this time.
