A window washer was killed when he fell from a window at Trump Tower Wednesday.
According to Metro Police, the accident happened around 12:30 p.m. No word on what happened right before the window washer fell. He was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Based on how the ropes were positioned, it appears the worker was washing the windows on the north side of the building. However, the rest of the equipment, like the seat and bucket, were on the east side of the tower.
Many people were outside the property and witnessed it as it occurred. One man said he saw the worker swing around the corner of the tower.
It’s unclear if weather played a factor in the fall, but winds were up to 35-miles-an-hour at the time of the accident.
According to one witness, the worker was rescued through the parking garage, which is directly below the tower.
The Trump Organization released the following statement:
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the incident today. We are working diligently with the owner of the third party company to investigate the details. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his family.” – spokesperson for the Trump Organization.
OSHA is investigating and will be the agency that will determine what happened before and during the fall.
