Police say a man is in critical condition in the hospital and his dog is dead after being involved in a crash at the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Bruce Street.
The crash occurred at 1:14 p.m., when two vehicles hit each other near the intersection.
Evidence at the scene and witness statements say a Hyundai Elantra turned left at the intersection and into the path of the approaching Honda Accord.
The impact caused the Honda to travel onto the northwest sidewalk where it struck a pedestrian standing on the northwest corner sidewalk of the intersection with a dog at his side. The pedestrian and the passenger of the Honda were both transported to UMC Trauma by arriving medical personnel.
The pedestrian remained in critical condition and the passenger of the Honda was being treated for moderate injuries. The dog succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. Both drivers remained at the collision scene and did not display any signs of impairment.
This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Departments-Collision Investigation Section.
