Metro investigates shooting near Sahara and Rancho; suspect arrested after short pursuit

LAS VEGAS - Metro Police are investigating a shooting that occurred at the intersection of Teddy Dr. and Merritt Avenue, near W. Sahara Avenue and Rancho Drive.

According to police, right before 2 p.m. a person called to report that they had just heard shots being fired and a man lying down in the street.  

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man with a gunshot wound.  He's was transported to UMC Trauma.

A suspect vehicle was also reported to police.  A Metro Police officer saw a vehicle driving in the area that matched the description.  The officer stopped the vehicle, but it did not stop.  

Officers pursued the suspect's vehicle to the area of Sands Avenue and Koval Lane where the suspect hit another vehicle, got out of the car and attempted to run. The man was taken into custody. 
The intersection of Sands and Koval is shut down while police investigate.
