LAS VEGAS - A Metro Police officer shot and killed a man Friday morning, just hours after detectives say the man murdered his wife inside their home south of Las Vegas.
Investigators said the first 911 call came around midnight from a home in the 11000 block of Giles St., near Las Vegas Blvd. and St. Rose Pkwy. Four children were inside the home at the time of the shooting. Police said a 16-year-old attempted CPR on the victim, but she later died.
Detectives said the killer was able to run away from the house. He eluded police for nearly three hours before he was tracked down. During an altercation with police, the man was shot and killed. Investigators did not immediately say how many officers fired or whether the man returned fire.
This is the first deadly officer-involved shooting of the year in Metro's jurisdiction.
