LAS VEGAS - High winds were responsible for the Wednesday morning power outage at MGM Grand and New York-New York.
The preliminary investigation shows debris was likely blown into a substation, according to Yvette Monet, the Corporate Communications Manager for MGM Resorts International.
The MGM and New York-New York lost power around 5:15 a.m. on Wednesday. Power was restored to the resorts by about 6:30 a.m., according to Monet.
At the time of the outage, backup generators operated as designed and provided power to both resorts, said Monet.
