A poll released Saturday shows support for Senator Dean Heller among Nevada Republicans is down.
If the Republican primary election was held today, 39% of the respondents said they would support challenger Danny Tarkanian, according to JMC Analytics and Polling. Only 31% said they would support Heller. 31% were undecided.
The poll also found 34% of Republicans have a favorable opinion of Heller compared to 48% who had an unfavorable opinion.
The poll also asked about President Donald Trump. 80% of respondents said they approve of the President’s job performance with 14% disapproval. 6% had no opinion.
Heller will face off against Danny Tarkanian in the primary election next year. Tarkanian is a businessman and the son of iconic UNLV basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian.
On Friday, Tarkanian received an endorsement from former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.
Heller is considered one of the most vulnerable Republicans in the U.S. Senate partly because he’s the only one up for re-election next year in a state that President Donald Trump lost to Democrat Hillary Clinton last November.
JMC Analytics and Polling took a sample of likely Republican household for an automated poll. There were 700 completed responses.
The margin of error for the was 3.7%.
