UPDATE: Woman found dead in east valley apartment

LAS VEGAS - Homicide detectives are investigating after officers found a woman is dead in an east valley apartment.

A Cox technician called police around noon after a man opened the door covered in blood on Saturday in the area of Nellis Boulevard and Valley View Drive, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. 

The man told the technician a woman inside needed help. When officers arrived, they said they found a woman in her 60's dead inside a bedroom.

Officers took the man into custody. He is believed to be in his 20's. Investigators are uncertain what their relationship was, but think they lived together.

Investigators suspect the woman died of blunt force trauma. The Clark County Coroner's Office will make the official determination. 

Detectives expect to charge the man with a murder.
