Suspect arrested in 3-car crash that killed woman near Pecos and Lake Mead

North Las Vegas Police have arrested the driver that caused a fatal crash at E. Lake Mead Boulevard and N. Pecos Road on December 24.

Police say 41-year-old Rigoberto Chavez-Solorzano is facing three counts of felony reckless driving with death or substantial bodily harm at the Las Vegas City Jail.

According to officers, 3 cars were involved in the wreck. One person was killed and two others were taken to the hospital.

On Monday around 12:30 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of East Lake Mead Boulevard and Palmer Street in reference to a serious crash involving two motor vehicles. According to police, both drivers along with a 13-year-old male passenger were transported to University Medical Center Trauma in critical condition.

Medical personnel pronounced a 41-year-old female passenger deceased on scene.

Investigators say a four door silver sedan was facing westbound on East Lake Mead Boulevard in the center turn lane attempting to make a southbound turn into a business when a black two door vehicle, driven by Chavez-Solorzano, impacted the passenger side of the vehicle and caused the 41-year-old deceased victim to be ejected from her vehicle.

Investigators believe speed played a major role in the cause of this collision.

At the hospital both drivers were upgraded to stable condition with minor injuries.

This is the 21st fatal crash in North Las Vegas for 2018.
