NORTH LAS VEGAS -- The North Las Vegas Fire Department responded to a train derailment early Saturday morning.
Fire officials say shortly after 12:30 a.m. Saturday, they were called to the train derailment at the intersection of Donovan Way and Tropical Parkway.
The derailment involved two tankers and two box cars.
Fire crews and members of Union Pacific contained a small spill of some of the products from the tankers. Fire officials said alcohol and fatty substances were the fluids that were involved in the leak. One of the cars was empty and another carried lumber.
The leak was secured and contained at the wreck site and there were no reports on injuries.
The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
Union Pacific has ordered equipment from Utah that will arrive later over the weekend to assist in getting the tankers and cars upright and removed from the tracks.
