LAS VEGAS - Three people are injured after an employee at a Henderson Terrible Herbst opened fire for an unknown reason Friday morning, according to police.
Henderson Police say one of the shooting victims died before 4 p.m. and a 22-year-old suspect was taken into custody.
Rafael Valdez is facing multiple charges with one being open murder with a deadly weapon. Valdez is also charged with two counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon and three counts of attempted robbery with a deadly weapon.
The shooting happened at the gas station on E. Sunset Road near Annie Oakley Drive.
Two of the people shot suffered critical injuries.
Investigators do not know if the shooter and victims knew each other at this time.
While the shooting happened at the Terrible Herbst, police said there was a second crime scene in the area of E. Sunset Road and Green Valley Parkway.
Originally, police reported the shooting was the result of a failed carjacking, but that did not end up being the case.
There was an unrelated report of a carjacking in the area investigators thought was connected to the shooting.
Also, there was a report for four shooting victims, but police revised the number of victims to three.
Police are asking people to avoid the area during the course of the investigation.
