LAS VEGAS - Thursday night's wild storm knocked down 31 power poles along Boulder Highway between Sunset and Russell roads causing a major power outage in the southeast part of the valley.
Along with power outages, the down power poles are responsible for serious traffic issues. The northbound lanes of Boulder Highway could be closed for up to three days, according to Kathleen Richards, City of Henderson.
The three-day estimate is the worst case scenario, Richards added. The southbound lanes are still closed but should reopen shortly.
According to the National Weather Service, winds of 45 to 60 miles per hour were reported across the valley.
There are still hundreds of customers without power Friday morning. NV Energy expects to restore power to those customers around 10:15 a.m.
