We can confirm that Las Vegas police were involved in a shooting in the 1700 block of Fremont Street, near Bruce Street.
Police say that a man resisted arrest after being stopped for driving recklessly around 7:40 a.m.
The man was instructed to get out of his vehicle, which he did, but began reaching for a bulky item on his waistband. The officer grabbed the man and attempted to place him in handcuffs, however the man turned on the officer and began fighting him.
The officer then deployed his taser, which briefly sent the man to the ground, but wasn’t able to stop the man. The man then charged at the officer and continued fighting him – that is when the officer fired his gun. It is unknown how many times the man was shot, but he was pronounced dead after being transferred to UMC Trauma.
