LAS VEGAS - When imminent weather rolls through Red Rock Canyon, the Bureau of Land Management wants hikers to stay safe.
During nearby thunder and lightning strikes, staff close the outdoor exhibits at the visitor center and advise people against exploring the area outside of their car. However, that doesn't always happen.
"We do get people that kind of ignore the warnings," said Kate Sorom, a park ranger at Red Rock Canyon. "Hopefully all goes well and they learn quickly from their mistake."
For those who are up for an adventure during a storm, she offers these safety tips.
