Driving You Crazy

What's Driving You Crazy? - Fri. Aug. 10, 2018

It's not as big a deal as the opening of the brand new I-11 around Boulder City southeast of Las Vegas, but it may be a big deal for drivers in the far northwest valley.

And it's not a freeway opening. It's a 5-day closure of part a well-used street *next* to a freeway. We're talking about NDOT's $78-million expansion of the 95 from Ann Road to Kyle Canyon. Starting Monday and running until next Saturday morning, work on storm drain improvements is taking away a section of Oso Blanco, the street that runs on the west side of the 95 from the 215 up past Elkhorn where it curves into Durango. The closure is between Grand Montecito and Mountain Ridge Park. It shouldn't be a huge deal, especially if you think of a right triangle made up of Oso Blanco as the hypotenuse, the 215 as the bottom and Durango as the third side. For northbounders, just stay on the 215 west to Durango. Southbounders it's just the opposite: stay on Durango south to the 215. NDOT's map here also notes that *part* of Oso Blanco is available - *if* you're trying to get from the 215 to Mountain Ridge Park, which is where the 2014 Little League World Series asterisked national champs play.

The closure on Oso Blanco starts Monday morning at 7 and is scheduled to end at 7am Saturday the 18th. Buckle up, drive carefully - and put down that phone!
