At least one more pretty big Project Neon freeway squeeze.
It’s this weekend and it affects both directions of the 95. Not in the Spaghetti Bowl, but just west of there between Valley View and MLK. And it’s not a full closure – thank goodness we’re done with those – but both east and westbound (technically north and south) will be down to one lane starting at 10 tonight and scheduled to run until 5 Monday morning. Maybe some of the folks who’ve written to “What’s Driving You Crazy” to complain about the condition of the freeway will be glad to hear about the reason for the squeezin: from NDOT’s Tony Illia:
“The temporary closures are needed for milling and asphalt paving overlay as part of Project Neon’s nearly $1 billion 4-mile-long widening of I-15 from the US95 interchange to Sahara.”
In other words, we’re getting closer to the end of Project Neon, which is now less than six weeks away.
I should also mention that you won’t be able to get on or off the 95 at Rancho during the lane restriction.
Buckle up, drive carefully and put down that phone!
